Melissa "Mel" Mederos was born and raised all over South Florida. Most notably, she moved to Miami, FL in 2020 to begin her film career at New York Film Academy South Beach. There she was awarded a talent-based scholarship and Dean's List Honors.
Soon after she founded Mariposa Productions and at the end of 2021 she moved to Los Angeles, CA to broaden her knowledge of the film industry.
In 2023 she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in filmmaking with the Latin Honors of Cum Laude from New York Film Academy Los Angeles.
Mariposa Productions was founded in 2020 by Melissa "Mel" Mederos. Mariposa Productions currently specializes in films of the psychological horror genre.
At the moment, Mariposa Productions has short films underway. They are looking to produce feature films in the future.
The company's mission is to make horror films that highlight struggles we may face in everyday life and in interpersonal relationships.
